  • The Tamil/Sinhala Youth Cricket Team emerged winners at the Annual Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament conducted by the Colombo South Deanery held at St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya on Sunday 17th June 2012.
  • The Jubilee Year will be ceremonially declared open by our Chief Celebrant His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Spiteri, Apostolic Nuncio for Sri Lanka.
  • The church building is now repaired, remodelled, refurbished and painted in time for the Jubillee year of the parish which commences with the feast of St Anthony.
  • The feast at St Anthony’s Colpetty will be celebrated on the 24th of June.
  • The church building is currently undergoing remodelling and renovation to eliminate the flashings which are prone to leak.

    Major renovations, Painting and expansion works worth Rs. 6.5 million on the main church building of St. Anthony’s church Kollupitiya commenced on the month of August 2011 by the initiative of the parish priest Fr Manokumaran and the church building committee.
    A new candle parlour and a few entrances were among the new additions. The entire church building was painted and the roof of the main edifice was almost completely repaired.
    Funds for the project were raised by the “Buy a Tile” initiative which was a sale of tickets at the price of Rs200 each.. Generous contributions were also made by parishioners and well wishers who wish to remain anonymous.
    The project reached completion by mid December 2011. The church building committee and the parish priest would like to thank the contributors for their generosity without which the upgrading of the church would have not been possible.

  • After opening up the roof, perished timber was discovered in the altar roof area and this is being replaced at considerable additional cost.
  • The corridors are being opened to facilitate the passage of worshippers to the statues without disturbing services that may be in progress.
  • The corridors are also being tiled and the cement grills are to be replaced with steel grillwork which will afford better light and ventilation.
  • A separate room for the lighting of candles is also being constructed. This is to minimise smoke and candle wax in the church building.
  • Once the renovation is completed, the whole church building will be painted.
  • Donors who could contribute toward the cost of this project are kindly requested to contact the parish priest.
  • The Sinhala and Tamil youth organisations held a successful 'Car Wash' programme on the 27th and 28th of August.
  • The Members of the Tamil Legion of Mary Celebrated 5 years, on the 4th of Sept.
  • The Members of the Sinhala Legion of Mary will be celebrating 5 years on the 25th of Sept.
  • The members of the St. Vincent De Paul Society will hold a Needle Craft demonstration on the 11th of Sept. at 10.00am, at the new hall.
  • The feast of St. Vincent De Paul is on the 27th of Sept. The members of the St. Vincent De Paul Society will celebrate the feast on a Sunday closest to that date.
  • Three statues of our Lady are going round to houses on a Zonal basis for the recitation of the Rosary.
  • Rev. Sr.Lidwina will be celebrating her birthday on the 30th of October.
  • Legion of Mary will celebrate 90 years worldwide and in Sri-Lanka 75 years at St.Lucia's Cathedral on the 15th of October.
